What other treatments are available?

Some of the many other treatments available are:

Carpal tunnel release

Carpal tunnel release involves cutting the transverse carpal ligament that’s pressuring the median nerve. This relieves pressure and alleviates pain and other issues involved in carpal tunnel syndrome.

Cushing’s disease treatments

Cushing’s disease treatment depends on what causes your excess cortisol. Common approaches include surgery to remove the tumor (the first-line approach). Additional methods include cortisol-inhibiting medication, chemotherapy, and radiation.

Back pain treatments

Initial approaches for back pain include treatments like physical therapy, medication, and injections. If back pain persists, the team may recommend a robotics procedure (robotic spine surgery). This approach involves smaller incisions, less tissue damage, and shorter hospital stays.

Dysphagia treatments

Dysphagia treatments include swallowing therapy with speech and language therapists, dietary changes, and feeding tubes through the nasal passages or stomach.

Essential tremor treatments

While not everyone with essential tremors needs treatment, severe symptoms require approaches such as medication, physical therapy, and neuromodulation surgery called deep brain stimulation.

Hemifacial spasm treatments

Treatment addresses the specific cause of hemifacial spasms (often a facial nerve injury or tumor), typically through a surgical procedure called microvascular decompression.

The team tailors treatments to each patient’s personal needs. They explain the different treatments and then work hand-in-hand with you to help you make a decision.
